El aborto como un derecho de la mujer
El aborto es uno de los temas más polémicos del mundo. Casi todas las organizaciones y personas individuales de diferentes continentes, países y comunidades tienen su opinión sobre la regulación de las interrupciones voluntarias del embarazo. La Iglesia, el gobierno y los políticos usan sus sentimientos sobre el aborto como una plataforma donde pueden expresar sus ideas sobre la mujer, la vida, la muerte y la sociedad en general. Donde hay (o no hay) aborto, siempre hay un debate muy fuerte.
Desde el año 1985, las regulaciones sobre la interrupción voluntaria del embarazo en España no han cambiado mucho. Básicamente hay tres razones legales que permiten un aborto. Primero, para salvar la vida (física o mental de la mujer). Segundo, en el caso de un embarazo resultado de una violación. Tercero, si existe la posibilidad de daño al feto. Además, la mujer tiene que abortar en las primeras doce semanas (en el caso de violación) o las primeras veintidós semanas (en el caso de riesgo para la salud).
En mi opinión, cada mujer debe tener el derecho a elegir lo que pasa con su propio cuerpo. Por eso, estoy de acuerdo con las leyes actuales en España. Durante muchos años en España (y Estados Unidos y los demás países del mundo) las mujeres no tenían derechos. No podían votar en las elecciones del gobierno, no podían trabajar, no ganaban la misma cantidad de dinero que los hombres. Desafortunadamente este todavía es el caso hoy en día en muchas regiones del mundo. Pero en países industrializados como España, donde las mujeres tienen libertades, el derecho de abortar no no se les debe quitar. Un hombre del gobierno o un obispo de la Iglesia no puede dictar lo que hace una mujer con su cuerpo. Me parece que las razones legales que permiten una interrupción del embarazo son sólidas. Obviamente una mujer no debe tener un bebé si existe el riesgo de daño o muerte. Pienso que la salud mental de la mujer también es importante. El riesgo de daño también se aplica a la salud del feto. Si un feto tiene muchos problemas que van a comprometer su calidad de vida de una manera significativa, opino que es el derecho de la mujer decidir si quiere interrumpir el embarazo para salvar al feto de una vida marcada por el dolor y la tristeza. Finalmente, el caso de un embarazo resultado de una violación es mucho más polémico. Estoy de acuerdo con la ley que existe en España. Cuando una mujer experimenta una violación y, como consecuencia fecundada, no es por causa de su propia decisión. Ella pierde su dignidad y su derecho de elegir lo que pasa con su cuerpo. Por eso, me parece justo que las mujeres españolas puedan interrumpir un embarazo de este tipo.
El perfil típico de una mujer española que aborta no es muy sorprendente. La mayoría de las mujeres que abortan declara que la salud materna es el motivo para los abortos. Además, el estado civil más común es siempre mujeres solteras. Ellas no tienen el apoyo de un marido y por eso deciden que no pueden criar a un hijo sin los recursos económicos y emocionales necesarios. Contra la creencia popular, la mayor parte de las mujeres que abortan no son chicas pobres sin un trabajo. Al contrario, son mujeres asalariadas con sus propias labores o estudiantes. Son mujeres cultas que deciden que no es el momento apropiado en sus vidas para tener un bebé.
En conclusión, me entristece que el aborto tenga que existir. No es una situación ideal para nadie. Y no estoy en contra de que el gobierno mantenga regulaciones. Pero vivimos en un mundo lleno de circunstancias adversas y por eso necesitamos otra opción para estas mujeres. Los grupos en contra del aborto no deben juzgarlas porque es un tema muy privado. No se puede decir lo que harías en una situación hasta que la pases. Los derechos de la mujer son importantes y hay muchos países que deben aprender del ejemplo de España.
